Acetone is a relatively strong solvent and is great for dissolving two-part epoxies before they harden, cleaning glass fiber repair tools, and thinning fiberglass resins. It removes adhesive residues on glass and porcelain with price tags and other adhesive labels and cleans the lacquer application tools.
Acetone, a highly volatile solvent, evaporates very quickly, so it is not suitable as a thinner for most oil-based paints and coatings. To clean vinyl or fiberglass surfaces, mix with water to reduce its strength and slow the rate of evaporation.
